In one of my earlier posts I announced that we had a pet vole (field mouse) that my son named “Skrillix.” Recently when I started painting again I wanted to paint some rocks that pertained to the things in my life. This rock had a little chip on one edge and showed me a perfect image of a little critter curled up – and soon Skrillix was “reborn.” While this Skrillix munches on a blade of grass, the original scampers around his habitat foraging for nuts and seeds (and the occassional fresh fruit) that I scattered about for him to find. It is fun to watch him – and it was fun to do a painting of him as well. I plan on doing more paintings of a personal nature – it is more enjoyable than just painting something to make money. Of course, I still plan on selling these rocks (this one is on ebay) but it was much more meaningful to me than others I have painted. It felt more like true art.
