My older son and his friend were mowing our back pasture when they caught this little vole (also known as a field mouse). My younger son is always going on about wanting a pet mouse, so we kept the little fellow. I bought a 10-gallon aquarium, put soil and sod from the field into it so his environment would be close to what it is in nature. He soon dug burrows throughout the place and made himself at home. I got some hamster type food (includes nuts, seeds, fruits) and I sprinkle it around so that he has to forage to find it. My son named him “Skrillix”. I read that voles only live 3 to 6 months. I think I can manage that.
